The Oronir Tribe
The strongest tribe in the region, the Oronir currently occupy the Dawn Throne, having won the right to do so through their triumph in previous Naadams. Though the Mol claimed victory in the most recent of Contests, they had no interest in relocating and so the Oronir were free to remain where they were.
History
Historically, the Oronir have been one of the dominant tribes in the southeast corner of the steppe. Unlike most Xaela, who believe themselves the children of the Dusk Mother, the Oronir trace their lineage to the Dawn Father, and believe it their duty to watch over and keep the Xaela safe. As direct descendants of the avatar of Azim, they believe themselves superior to other tribes —though said tribes are not wont to agree. Nevertheless, theirs are formidable warriors who have claimed the ovoo countless times in the Naadam, including the one prior to the Mol's most recent victory.
The hierarchy within the tribe is determined by the Azim Bökh, a wrestling competition which pits brother against brother. The strongest and therefore most worthy is then declared the most radiant brother and leader of the Oronir.
Magnai of the Oronir
A warrior of unparalleled strength, the most radiant brother of the Oronir excelled in both combat and hunting since the moment he could wield a weapon. Fircely proud of his heritage, this man of twenty and seven summers puts little store by words, believing great feats to speak for themselves, and indeed he has many to his name, which might lead some to consider him a heroic figure. However, despite (or because of) these qualities, he has struggled to reconcile his rather high expectations for a bride.
As a child, Magnai was a hopeless romantic fascinated with the legends surrounding the Oronir and their destined partners... their Nhaama. Though most of his brothers grew more pragmatic with age, the most radiant only became more preoccupied with this ideal, and deaf to the words of wisdom of his five elder sisters. Instead he continued to hone his skills, believing that the strength to split the earth asunder and smite fell beasts would surely attract the attention of his beloved-to-be, his gentle, etherial maiden. To his credit, perhaps, Magnai is more than willing to take no for an answer, for he truly believes that were he to meet his Nhaama, they would not refuse him for even a moment.
Personality:
Local chad wants to simp for his wife so badly that he became a turbo virgin. That's it. That's his personality. No, actually, Khan Magnai of the Oronir, the Most Radiant Elder Brother decided—before he was the Most Radiant Brother of course, but after being bullied by his five older sisters—that he was going to find the love of his life. And this love of his life, he swore, would be an ETHREAL MAIDEN, DANCING IN THE DAWN MIST. Not at all like his sisters. She would be kind, she would care for him, and she would love him and he would absolutely, positively love her in return.Powers:
He hasn't found her yet, but that's not for lack of trying. It's the rest of his personality that matters, though.
Magnai can be by turns abrasive, conceited, and arrogant. He does not view these as character defects, and neither do the rest of his (not biological, think... frat) brothers in the Oronir. It is his right, as the Most Radiant Brother and (former) Khagan of the steppe—and he should act like it! This, combined with his deep... intense... desire to find his destined partner, his Nhaama, has made him either come up with or agree to do some incredibly idiotic things, (per their suggestion). Like, for example, mandate that every elegible maiden in the steppe line up in front of him so that he can look them in the eyes (and see if they are his Naama). Or just asking every single woman who isn't noticeably violent if they're his Nhaama. Or even ask a woman who did spend the last 8 minutes hurling boulders at him but also healing her ally with... dare we say it, etherial grace, if she is his Nhaama. It's what he should do! Unfortunately, it never goes as well as he'd hope. He takes rejection surprisingly well, because there's no point in focusing on the not-Nhaamas littering the road behind him. Surely the one he is meant to wed is still out there.
But what about everyone he meets who isn't a potential Nhaama? Foes and allies alike, Magnai views them as most of them the same: non-Xaela are of the earth, and inferior to the Most Radiant, and the many Xaela are people it is his responsibility to care for, as his lessers. As the (former) Khagan of the steppe, Magnai and the Oronir are tasked with leading the Xaela as a whole, and it is one he and his tribe take seriously. They go about making sure the steppe is lit at night, for example, and are believe themselves the one voice that should be entrusted to act on the entire steppe's behalf in matters concerning countries/regions outside. One can also presume that trade matters also go through the tribe that resides on the Dawn Throne -- leaving Magnai not only well versed in combat in order to win the position of Khagan but also in politics to get the best for the steppe as a whole.
For all his power and arrogance he is surprisingly difficult to provoke into one on one combat; as much as he'd like to constantly throw hands with people who insult him personally, he will set aside his grievances for the sake of bigger matters, be it politics or a bigger enemy or even just to reserve his strength for more important things. There is one exception to this, however: Sadu Heavensflame, khatun of the Dotharl. She can provoke him to a fierce one on one battle with a laugh and a sharp, mocking word.
In fact, she can provoke him into a lot of things just by calling into question those things that he takes great pride in, such as his honor, his fighting prowess, his success with finding the true love of his life, and the strength of the Oronir. He cares for his people, both Xaela and the tribes directly under his command, and is concerned for their wellbeing over crowing about their successes on the battlefield. (Its that tank main brainrot.)
But he's still never touched a boob in his entire life (outside of glorious combat).
☀️ His primary abilities are that of a Warrior; he's made to take damage, and keep taking damage!Inventory: Armor; axe; yol whistle; the yol itself (pet); some poor lost Namazu (a second, unwanted pet--like some kind of idiotic damp moogle); and a... toy automaton...?
☀️ Aetheric manipulation (magic) accounts for the non-weaponskill abilities and augments his base physical prowess.
☀️ Azim Zephyr; tankbuster. Single target, heavy damage. Not nerfed.
☀️ Violent Earth & Wind Chisel; various area of effect attacks that give this big dumb idiot with an axe a lot more range than he has any right having. He slams his axe into the ground and the shockwave buckles the earth, doing damage in either a wide area or a longer cone. Nerfed.
☀️ Broken Ridge; essentially the warrior lb3. Extends an aetheric barrier to his allies thatreduces 80% of incoming damage for 12 secondsgrants a vulnerability down buff, and force a giant wall of protective stone and fire out of the ground to shield the party when he slams his axe down. Nerfed!
☀️ The One Ruler; modified variation on the Warrior's Holmgang skill (which prevents an opponent from moving, and the player's hp from dropping below 1), where Magnai summons aetheric chains to bind and hold up to 10 opponents at once. Nerfed, but should be regainable soon for... horny reasons.
☀️ Flatland Fury; Summons multiple copies of his axe which... essentially are just independent casts of Violent Earth. Nerfed.
☀️ Dawn Judgement; bro idk what this one does I never see anyone fail the instance, but it's probably a big fuckin attack with his axe. Nerfed.
☀️ And most importantly, the power to always believe true love is out there, and that he'll find it one day. This is unnerfable.
